They are cutting hay now!

For me it has been three months. I was a bit late to join the party or the non party if you like. When I returned it was theoretically spring but miserable. It was the kind of weather that daffodils and tulips like but not much else. The miserable weather and general state of affairs dragged on for what seemed like forever and then things brightened up.

Boy did they brighten up. While out riding my bike of late I am struck by how normal the world looks except for people wearing masks. The farmers are cutting hay, the corn, while not up to “an elephants eye” is definitely distinguishable from soy beans. The grapes are all neatly pruned and tied even if it is reported that fewer migrant workers have arrived to do the job. This may be the last week for fresh asparagus which has been great and the strawberries are wonderful.

It is all vaguely reassuring in a world where we can do with a lot of reassurance.
