Same boat again!

Not all that long ago I was expressing my dislike for the expression “We are all in the same boat” when in fact some of us are in Yachts and others clinging to logs. I have come around a bit since then. Although the former statement still applies, it turns out I have developed a sense that at least some of us are in the same boat or a boat like mine. Not a yacht but seaworthy and well stocked.
The first turn on this was a note from a friend describing her routine of watching the sparrows suck up the birdseed and waiting for the day to warm up enough before going out for a walk. Seems spot on for me. I enjoy the birds, am intrigued by the numerous Morning Doves and have discovered that by mid day things are pretty walk-able.
The next boost was waking up this morning and listening to people calling in to the CBC and sharing there Covid-19 experiences. The dictate of the day was to share the good stuff. The first call that I connected with was from a women who said she still had her Christmas tree up. Me too. I was raised to clear out Christmas by Twelfth Night but this year I couldn't do it. As with the women who called, my tree is on a timer and it is a nice lift to see the lights come on around 4:00 everyday. In my case the timer is a bit random and doesn't always come on. Maybe it is trying to wean me? In any event it is a diversion and I need diversions.
The follow up caller talked about his discoveries while walking. Boy is he my guy. I manage to get out almost every day generally just walking out the door without a plan. Occasionally I drive to a recreation area but mainly just walk from the house. I have discovered trails, subdivisions and all sorts of interesting features to my surrounds. I have read numerous plaques detailing local history and I have chatted with strangers ( appropriately distanced) and have felt the benefit of the fleeting contacts.
It is February now and I am a bit surprised with how far we have come and a little apprehensive about how far we have to go..
Yep Eddie
