Oh Boy, Winter!

One of the strange effects of the Covid era for me has been a change in sleeping patterns. This is not unique and in fact many people report struggling with sleep issues. For me the change is not a problem, just different. I wake up around 5:30 (much earlier than in the past) I turn on my beside radio and then sleep and listen for a few hours more Turns out this is generally quite a nice way to start the day. Today not so much.
Today the first thing I heard was a weather report starting with the current temperature is -14 (Centigrade of course) with a day time high of -4. I know it can get worse and in many parts of Canada it already has but for me it comes as a shock. Where did fall go? It was a lovely season, bountiful harvests, no trauma for the wine makers and reasonable golf until late November but now we are in for it. Four more days and then the days will start to get longer. Currently we are getting 9 hours of daylight and varying amounts of sun. In about a month we will begin to notice the days are getting longer. I can't wait.
