Last March when I returned from Mexico and finished my quarantine I discover that the only addition to my life was that I could buy my own groceries if I dared to go shopping. We were pretty shut down and fairly scared. Summer came and life improved for many of us. Aside from adjusting to wearing masks things were pretty normal for those of us that have paychecks and pensions. Even those who didn't got some assistance from the government.

It is a new year and we are basically shut down just like in March. Unfortunately it is not the same. In March and April people were beating on pots and pans to show appreciation for the Health care workers, kids were pasting hearts in windows and people seemed pretty committed to learning how to behave. Now it seems like we are pretty burned out. People are trying to figure out how to get around the restrictions, bitching about the inconvenience of masks and gobbling up nonsense about the non existence of the pandemia.

I think it is a very, very good thing that vaccines are coming down the pike. We have failed the character test involved in social management. Sadly there is still a pile of suffering ahead.
