It is also a good time to be a dog

Aside from the much mentioned observation that Dogs love having people work at home and cats seem to disapprove, the local dogs have been handed another win. Pet grooming studios are open for business. I assume the dogs think of this as a good thing which may not be true but certainly from the looks of the very sassy, poshy, primpy mutts I see on my daily walks they seem to be more than OK with this.

This is in contrast to the levels of humanoid despair. I don't have a lot of hair so it is not a big deal but I could do with a cut. My last cut was in Oaxaca and I can't really get a good cut there. The main reason is that I have don't have a lot of hair but what I have is very fine, not uppity fine, but thin. My guess is that the typical Mexican barber, if he cares, worries that my hair is sick, as in malnourished, underfed and at risk for falling out. There is longstanding evidence for that last assessment.

Generally speaking, Oaxacans, male and female have fantastic hair, thick and black. Men don't seem to go bald and women don't seem to go grey. The "seem to" in the previous statement takes me to one of the current local sources of stress for women. Some women here are stressed out about “roots”. Maybe that is true for women in Oaxaca also, I don't know. Here I know.

Several conversations have led me to understand that some women are struggling with the question...”is this the time to just let it go grey”. Facing that issue at a stressful time like now is a nasty side effect of the mess we are in.
