Anniversary one

Exactly one year ago I was released from quarantine only to discover that there was little difference between life in quarantine and life on the loose. Principle difference was that I could buy my own groceries although I was strongly advised to not do anything quite so dangerous. It was a scary time. People were sanitizing their shopping orders, afraid to accept the packs of flyers dropped in the driveway and frantically washing their hands to the point of tissue damage. To top it off of course people were hoarding toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
A lot has changed but ironically we are experiencing the same level of lock down as a year ago. We passed through a fairly good patch in the summer and fall and now it appears we are back in the soup. It is strange. There is a lot more information about what we are up against, both the virus and the non-believers, vaccines are either here or on the horizon depending on your cohort but cases are on the crazy increase and fear of variants abounds.
I think there is a popular french expression (maybe several) to describe all this. Maybe this summer will be like last summer but with a more enduring result. I sure don't want to write a second anniversary note.
