Ah, This privacy thing!!

The need to monitor individuals in the effort to contain Covid-19 gives rise to weighty debate among my betters regarding privacy, liberty etc. My take is a bit more local. Physical distance means that there will not be a lot of whispering secrets and that is just as well. Frequently we get to share other peoples pleasures. Case in point follows:
Today while appropriately distancing in a line outside the appropriately named Beer Store (Only in Ontario would you find such a store), the following exchange took place between the guy two ahead ....six meters and the new arrival six meters back.
"Hey Bill, long time no see, heard you got married, congrats". This led to further comments of congratulations from others sitting in parked cars and appropriate acknowledgements from Bill. The first speaker, let us call him Tom, then said, "You gonna have Kids? " Whether this is a kinda snoopy question about sex life or family planning is obscure but it doesn't bother Bill. His response, " Nope, she comes with three." Tom says, "oh, I forgot, must be tough having them home from school all the time." Bill says, " that's why I am at the beer store ."
We all got to laugh and life goes on.
I have always been rather unconcerned about privacy because I don't really understand the urge a lot of people seem to have to make snide remarks about the way other people conduct their lives. I feel I can accept other people -- at least, most of the time--when they are not actually offensive--and they should accept me. This has caused me trouble in the past when the social customs of the people surrounding me were different from what I was used to and I found myself giving offence without in the least intending to. Even now, I still prefer to bond with people whenever I can by opening my heart to them and inviting them to open theirs to me.…
